This page tells you more about the choir's various activities, and how singers can take part in them.

Main gigs

We currently give about 3 main concerts per year, which are open to all Giltspur members. The minimum rehearsal requirement is typically 16 hours split between weekday evenings (2 hours) and the odd Saturday afternoon (4 hours). The general qualities we look for in new members are: some experience of singing; enthusiasm; and the willingness to do some private study. Audition is by low-key trial rehearsal.

Some gigs have a Semichorus element, selection for which is based on: a fast speed of learning; willingness to do private study; availability for extra rehearsals; and an excellent sense of ensemble. And, where possible, we allocate Solos within the choir, by voluntary audition.

Giltspur Voices

A flexible concept for external bookings (such as weddings), populated by regulars and our extended musical family. Individual invitations will be issued, tailored to the requirements of each booking.

Other activities

Amongst our other singing activities are non-competitive trips, competitions and repertoire sing-through days, organised on an ad hoc basis. And socials might include anything from a theatre trip or a visit to Kew to a pub quiz or a soirée where our members have a chance to show off their favourite party pieces to friends and families.
